The Jr. High and Sr. High Ministries of Kentwood Christian Church in Kentwood, MI
hello world!
Philo Student Ministries aims to create, promote, and produce a spirit of brotherly love. All the world searches to fulfill the inept feeling to be loved. God has wired us that way. The world sometimes offers a broken, unstable, and even manipulated form of that love. Christ comes offering a perfect, unrestricted and unreserved love. And his followers were given the task to reproduce that love, aiming to be perfect and never restricted in that love, even from old girlfriends, disputing friendships or even social differences. Nothing feels greater than to feel loved.
Our goal is to create a Christ-like atmosphere of love.
feel the philo!
The word “philo” comes from one of the three Greek words used for love. The English language uses the word love universally, from loving pizza to loving your wife. The Greeks had three different words to specify their love. “Philo” is the Greek word identifying “brotherly love.” The connection between family members runs thick, and even though at times their may be tension, they are always still family. Christ calls us into his family. And we are to love each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
We aim as a youth group to “keep on loving each other as brothers.”
We aim to “feel the philo!”
