H.O.M.E.

”Loving God, Loving People and Serving His World!”

H.O.M.E. is an acronym for Homeless Outreach and Ministry Equipping.  We are a non-profit, Christ centered, 501(c)3 organization that reaches out to the homeless and those living in poverty.  Our stateside mission creates awareness, educates and equips others to minister to this sometimes ignored, neglected and forgotten group of people.

The idea behind HOME, Homeless Outreach Ministry Equipping, can be found in 2 Corinthians 8:13-14. The basic idea is to encourage us as followers to learn how to interact with the impoverished in a kindly, Christian way such that we treat them no different than our own brothers and sisters. As we feed hungry people in urban areas, we gain unique and awesome friendships with fellow brothers and sisters of the world. We also have a chance to share the word with people all along their spiritual walks of life.  The only explanation I can give is that God works in wonderful ways through this ministry.

Currently we have monthly trips of people from Central Michigan University and GLCC going to areas in Lansing and Detroit. As the year continues, we are trying to rally interest and create groups of people from Grand Valley, Ferris, and Hope to minister to other areas such as Grand Rapids. While there aren’t any trips scheduled as of now in GR, there are still many ways you guys can help. If groups want to carpool over to Detroit to join us in our endeavors, that would be awesome! Also, we are always in need of supplies such as peanut butter, jelly, brown bags, encouragements cards, etc. With enough interest, huge things can happen in GR!! I’m excited to see what God has in store!

If you guys would like to plan coming to any Detroit trips, making care cards for us, or having a food/supply drive, my email address is lomon1hl@cmich.edu. I can get you a lot more information, keep you updated on our ministry, etc. The official HOME website is http://www.homelessoutreachministry.org/index.html/ This website offers more on how we came to be, what we are, and how we intend to move in the future for God.
